THE FLYING LUTTENBACHERS have been destroying puny earthling minds and souls for almost 10 years with an extreme, amorphous and unlikely fusion of hardcore punk anarchy, free jazz assault, death metal bombast, no wave skronk, electronic noise outbursts and modern classical-style abstraction. Total energy, speed and fury are primary factors in the music and THE LUTTENBACHERS avoid normalcy and predictability at all costs. One mere mortal rock critic described the current line-up as "a violent mutant hybrid between CAPTAIN BEEFHEART'S MAGIC BAND, BELA BARTOK and 2nd album NAPALM DEATH". He was neutralized shortly thereafter.
Now the world will be slapped in the face by the gauntlet of ultimate wrath: Infection and Decline, the tenth FLYING LUTTENBACHERS album (and Troubleman debut). The maniacal technicality of the playing and overtly bizarre compositions turn a new page in the band's stylistic development. No irony, no smirking, no stupid post-modernism. This album contains the grim, apocalyptic future of punk rock after punk rock has ceased to exist by definition. To hammer the final nail in the coffin, the album concludes with a devastating and faithful 16-minute version of "De Futura", originally recorded by the seminal French prog band MAGMA.
