Italians Do It Better owner / traveling dj salesman / heavy record collector, Mike Simonetti takes an edit to three very obscure 90s house tracks. We were able to recognize the a-side with some help. The track was altered significantly and intro extends and builds and builds and builds… Churning & hypnotic over 9 minutes in length ! The two tracks on the b-side sound like 90’s Japanese piano house and a happy house rave track flipped on 33 but to be honest, we have no idea what they are. Limited edition of 400 copies never to be repressed.

Fly Like an Eagle 12" Single

Italians Do It Better’s new sister edit label around kicks off with a throbbing re-vamp of a Steve Miller Band classic. Venice native William Bottin is well known for his slick Italo-inspired pulsing production. This time he puts his signature spin on a few classic rock tracks turning them into a sick italo-rock floor filler. We were spinning "Eagle" all over Europe last Spring & it killed everytime. The b-side is a Level 42 burner that will kill for you as well. Much more than an edit, yet not a remix per-se- Bottin has done something very very special this time! Tougher Than the Rest 12" Single

This is the track that forced Perseo into existence. Stockholm’s Martin Vogel revamps the classic 80s-era Bruce Spingsteen rock power ballad into an epic cosmic burner. Vogel adds much needed synth and drums to fill out the sound and make it perfect for the clubs. This track has been killing the dancefloors for over a year and now it finally sees an "official" release. This track was made for the summer, and is perfect for a long drive with a loved one or a late night on the dancefloor. So grab someone and take it to the floor. Gay Boy 12" Single

For a long time, we seriously could not figure out what to do with this track. Easily the weirdest record we'll ever release. Recorded in Portland at suite 304 while Farah and Johnny were busy working on the debut Farah Lp, "Into Eternity". Her new album is more of a logical extension of her first 12" with us...the classic After Dark slow burner, "Law Of Life". "I was in the studio with Farah working day & night on the new album. She was playing me 4 track cassettes & reading lyrics she had written over the past 4 or 5 years...Then she played me a song called, "Gay Boy". I was immediately blown away. This track was ridiculous. We dropped everything & started making a beat for it that night. I knew it wouldn't fit on the Lp, but we did it anyways. The vocals were done in just two takes, and then we moved on. Over the next year, I kept coming back to this beat. Her voice is shaky & so vulnerable. I became obsessed with the intimacy of this track. Like your reading her journal." Like all cult artists, you are either going to love Farah or hate Farah. We love this record! Imagine LL Cool J's "I Need Love" mixed with The Shangri La's "Leader Of The Pack", through the eyes of a Texas valley girl on lithium. The 12" features two drastically different beats for the song plus bonus instrumentals & a vocal / 808 mix.

Maxi Club version of this classic Desire show-stopper. Lyrics inspired by the Dan Hartman classic, "I Can Dream About You". This is a completely different recording from the Lp version. Clocking in at around 9 minutes...Desire keeps the percussion sparser, deeper, & heavier for the djs & romantics. B side has the full instrumental & the original tour demo version as a bonus. When Glass Candy was on tour last year, they stumbled into a foggy night club in Montreal and saw a woman singing an entire set of Jean-Pierre Massiera songs. Meet Megan Louise, the crystal clear tenor who sings in French and English over Desire's debut Lp, II. Completely blown away by her voice, Johnny Jewel decided to lock the doors on his Portland studio, and plant roots in Montreal. "I had been working on music for an abstract project named Desire for over two years. I was just waiting for the right singer to come along. When I heard Megan, I knew I had to try and convince her to do it." After spending the next few months building a studio, watching the snow fall, and getting a root canal, Desire was born. Johnny brought in collaborator, Nat Walker on drums and synthesizer. Last year the two toured the world as the critically acclaimed disco noir outfit Chromatics, also on the Italians Do It Better imprint. "We were wanting to do a new project that had elements of what we were doing in Chromatics, but explore the sound and limitations of pop music more." In addition to the percusive guitars, stacatto synths, and layers of piano, Desire borrowed a three piece string section of students from le Conservatoire de Musique de Montreal, adding a romantic overtone throughout the album. Desire's music stands right on the line between indie pop and electronic dance music. Without making any promises to either camp, the group delivers plenty of lush melodies and hypnotic drums to keep everyone hooked. Their debut album explores themes of hope and lost love. The result is a gorgeous collection of eight songs that embrace the innocence of youth, and the pain of heartbreak. Vinyl version features a full color lyric insert!

One of our top 5 records of 2009. Twisted Wires are new to the Italians Do It Better family. The quartet comes from Houston, Texas (also the birthplace of one Johnny Jewel). A cascading waterfall of arpeggios & walls of guitar. Richard Durham's voice is romantic & new wave. The Linn drum machine destroys the track with percussion reminiscent of "Head Hunter" era Front 242 & the shuffle of the Mr. Fingers classic "Can You Feel It". 12 inch features an instrumental version & a drumless vocal mix with guitar. Seriously a favorite around here. We can't recommend this record enough. 18 minutes. Beautiful, timeless, & brilliant!

While Digging for rare italo disco vinyls in the archives of a now defunct radio station, a friend of Bottin's found this reel dated "1984". All we could find on the internet are traces of a mysterious promo pressing (that's where we got all the credits from) on the legendary IL DISCOTTO label. The track seems to have been recorded at Green House, a former recording studio in Padova, Italy - the same city as the radio station's where it was found! We asked Bottin to remix it for the B side & the rest is history, literally. Out of print everywhere except here. Only a handfull of these left.
