WOLF EYES/SICKNESS

There Is A Part Of Me That You Will Never Know LP (Hospital Productions)

This slipped thru the cracks almost! This is sold out through the label as far as i know. killer collaboration! Sickness is one of the best kept secrets. The first ever collaboration between noise institutions Wolf Eyes and Sickness makes its way into your inner ear via Dominick Fernow's always terrifying Hospital productions. As tends to be the case with so many of the American noise scene's primary movers and shakers, this LP manages to successfully juggle all-out howling noise assaults with more restrained, cloudy atmospherics. Between them, Mike Connelly John Olson, Nate Young and Chris Goudreau make a surprisingly focussed, uncluttered murmur through the early stages of 'A Diet Of Speed And Beer', the first side droning and screeching into life with some low pressure sandblasting tactics, interspersed with the odd pop and thud here and there, presumably heralding the switching on and off of effects units. It has to be said though: it's only when the players crank their output to maxed-out levels that the sheer brilliance of the quartet reveals itself - particularly on B-side '47 Polaroids' when part way through a stamping rhythm imposes itself upon the otherwise chaotic structure, recalling the headache beats strewn across Human Animal. Awesome. (bookmat.com review) - 500 made, hurry!

$15.00

POCAHAUNTED

Island Diamonds LP (Arbor)

Newest offering by future TMU recording artist (lp coming soon)... heres the label review. 500 made so grab it quick or pay ebay later. Teepees turned in for shanties. Moccasins turned in for high tops. Spirit fog turned in for purple haze. This is the sound of the world town. Amanda and Bethany have had S. LA metal head Bobb Bruno play electric drums on their tracks in the past, but the results of this album is something entirely different than anything they attempted before. It is less Bobb playing drums with Pocahaunted, than it is an entirely new entity operating in perfect unity. Dubbed out and drenched in the grime of the streets, Island Diamonds features the same vocal come downs and chord repetition/progression to infinity that P-haunt is know for, but with the addition of almost (dare I say) ÒdanceableÓ beats. This is the record that Amanda and Bethany have always wanted to make, the crown jewel of an epic sistership. Rub soap in your eye make it red so you look raw. Recorded/mixed/mastered over a period of three months, and the effort/time shows; PocahauntedÕs most developed/realized work yet; features additional saxophone riffage by Andy Spore (of Raccoo-oo-oon, Youth of the Beast, Pukers) mastered by James Plotkin. In an edition of 500 Rasta colored LPÕs on clear yellow vinyl with pro-printed jackets with art by Crystal Stokowski, labels by A+B, and an insert..

FACTUMS

The Sistrum LP (Sacred Bones)

Like I said earlier, Sacred Bones is the shit currently. This synth punk juggernaut has a bunch of awesome records out, but this is their best one to date. $15.00

THE PINK NOISE

Dream Code LP (Sacred Bones)

Sacred Bones is currently our favorite label. First it was the Blank Dogs, not these two stellar records. This one blew me away at first listen. Brooklyn underground is in full effect. Equal parts "Daydream- era" Sonic Youth, Unwound, My Bloody Valentine. and X.... A very hard band to pin down. Totally killer. You've never heard a band like this! http://www.myspace.com/thepinknoise. 500 made.

$15.00

ROBEDOOR

Shrine to the Professor LP (Music Fellowship)

Another in house TMU fave..Dark epic drone. This one is pure darkness - no light, no air, just tortured souls and echoed cries. Three epic droning processionals built from the heaviest, thickest low-end tones. The sound of indentured servants from a scorched dustbowl wasteland. Caveman aesthetic pushed to its limits by recording to eight analog channels. Recorded by Bobb Bruno at Bored Fortress HQ in Eagle Rock, CA. Artwork by Andy Spore. Includes silkscreened 11x17 poster. Limited and numbered to 500.

$17.00

BLUE SABBATH BLACK CHEER

For The Sickly Weaklings LP (Gnarled Forest)

BIRTH REFUSAL

7" + CDR (American Tapes)

Bruiser and Kid, separated physically (not emotionally) by about ten feet in the shadowz of Schooner Cove, lay down the first vinyl outing by this "wives at work = the boyz will jam" afternoon electronic harsh noise project. The upcoming BR lp on Troniks was threatened not to be cut by the mastering dude due to horrible clean tones, and you tell on this they were struggling as well. Black hole sound, terrible textures. Ruff & Raw. Color wax, color cover, lock groove, and tape collab CD round this mutha out. Edition of 200.

NAGISA YOKO and JUSTIN SIMON

Kayoko Nonsense 12" (Mesh-Key)

If Asakawa Maki were possessed with Iggy Pop's soul, if Lydia Lunch's spirit invaded Eri Chiemi, if Wada Akiko grew her hair out and popped some hallucinogens, still none would outshine Tokyo's enigmatic psychedelic kayokyoku/enka/chanson singer, NAGISA YOKO. Yoko has released five albums (including a 12"on Konishi of PIZZICATO FIVE's Readymade label) and a slew of singles. She has worked with producers as varied as 1960's "Group Sounds" legends HAPPENINGS FOUR and noise-musician turned literary superstar Nakahara Masaya (VIOLENT ONSEN GEISHA, HAIR STYLISTICS).ÊThis release is a special one-time collaboration between old friends Justin Simon and NagisaÊYoko. Justin's songwriting and production take Yoko into much weirder territory than her usualÊoutput. It also features fellow Yoko fan and notorious underground Tokyo journalist Naruse's ode toÊYoko, recorded in Inogashira park.ÊThe B-side features a vinyl etching by Hisham Bharoocha (ex-BLACK DICE), meticulouslyÊcarved onto a blank metal plate specifically for this collaboration. Takuyuki Moriya, bass player forÊGHOST, plays bass on one track as well. Justin is also in Invisible Conga People. Ê200 made! hand-numbered.

CHRISTIAN FAMILY UNDERGROUND

For the Depth Of Your Union LP (Woodist/Fuck It Tapes)

Family Underground collaborates with Dave Nuss of No Neck Blues Band. ---- Summer 06 Family Underground (DK) recorded with Dave Nuss of NNCK at Black Dirt Studios in the woods of upstate NY. The yield was as characteristically unhinged as one might expect: sweeping electronic sounds backed with wood and bone percussion spirit-conjure. However also harvested was some new and especially tasty crop: sung and spoken song, electric guitar 'rock,' and an odd ghostly sheen coating the entire proceeding. Nuss comments on the session: "i remember when we were recording, momentarily leaving the studio and going out into the night and feeling it thicken like a partition separating us from this intense state of clear consciousness we had in the recording, which was like humankinds natural state. And then thinking about Jesper from FU, an adopted Vietnamese living in DK, and how much he resembles Michael Jackson, and realizing that across continents no man can be divided from himself. We had to make this music to provide for us some fantasy of fulfillment that would carry us through the weekend like rejuvenated suns born again climbing to heaven, after being washed in the deepest bluest sea." Jacket by designer Susan Cianciolo and screened inserts as well. very limited quantities

NVH/Ben Chasny

Plays The Book Of Revelations LP (Yik Yak)

Ben (Six Organs Of Admittance) and other Comets on Fire dudes do the killer noise thing. with killer crucifix style cover. INTENSE! "So what's this whole Chasny / NVH thing about anyway, well, you won't find any dreamy folky prettiness here. This lp is all about the noise. The noise a guitar and god knows what else can conjure up. This is some serious noiserock. Heck, there's no rock to speak of, this is just good ol' noise. But not really -just- noise, there's a whole lot going on. It's just all wrapped in some of the most corrosive seriously damaged skree we've heard in ages. Guitars careen everywhere, huge walls of crumbling distortion tumble onto blown out riffs, FX drenched squiggles are everywhere, angular melodies are twisted and tangled into psychedelic squalls, riffs are pulled apart into squealing keening roaring parts and hurled separately into the mix bouncing wildly off each other. Here and there the blown out rumbles coalesce into thick buzzing drones, and pretty melodies drift in and out, but are quickly overpowered. Imagine locking Keiji Haino and Kawabata Makoto in a a tiny room, armed with nothing but guitars, distortion pedals and a wall of amps each, dueling to the death, the results recorded and played back through a bank of busted effects. Wild and weird. And pretty fucking awesome. But definitely another one for the iron eared... Packaged in a super elaborate fold out sleeve, all black, with black printing, black inner sleeve, and the outer jacket unfolds into a massive (upside down?) crucifix!! Super limited too, so don't snooze on this one.....ltd to 666 copies. hurry.

Vanishing Voice

Stone Tablet LP (Important)

The Vanishing Voice head down from the mountain for another dip in a lake of elephant seals. A misty warbling leads down a twisted path where molten earth and crust collide. The beginning of the end of the beginning. Lots has been said bout these brooklyn teen idles: "They're chasing rainbows!" "They're graveyard spongeheads!" "A pregnant poo-bah frolicking in the forest!" No dice... Whatever Kraut or Swede compatriots that may be a part time relation the Vanishing Voice are mining the soundof the naughties in a subterranean part of brooklyn, as reprehensible as that place might be the beast still roams Gotham and these fuckers got him by the tail. Stone Tab is a trip to be sure. Mother Mark Ospovat cracks the whip of dogsled Imandi while snarling bad dog Pete Nolan kept a forward propulsion on skins and molten guitar spew. Mad man Steve J Taveniere of local faves Meneguar lent a cool head and a popular sensibility to the proceedings with skills on the acoustic axe to be sure. Non horse Crane, magnetic wizard and dj let loose his usual bag of hidden charms and H. "Reality" Diehl, with a voice said to make many a grown man cry, a magik trash harp and the mind of the other, kept us all in the ethereal realm. Don't worry though, this strange brew rocks out for real and thanks to the folks at Important Records, you can be sure it was recorded in the highest fidelity known to man.Limited edition of 500 packaged in beautifully screen printed jackets. Musically, the vinyl version is significantly different from the CD version including different mixes and an extra track. (label description). we got these from the band so tey are a nice price!!

Withdrawal Method

Live Letting c20 (Heavy Tapes)

We first met Drew from Withdrawal Method / Since 1972 at the first No Fun festival -- he was selling tapes and hanging with the Nyoukis/Brighton crew, and his tapes were killer. After finding about his music project Withdrawal Method by a few bootleg live shows and officially released cassettes, we asked Drew for a master, and he gave us two live performances -- an optimal way to enjoy his sounds. Rough, live, purely electronic, these two pieces defy description -- just bury your head in the sand and trust us on this one. new Heavy Tapes packaging for this second wave is 100% different- almost letterpressed covers - VERY expensive to make! well worth it though.

$11.00

Tom Grimley

Never Mind the Abstention, Here's the Semi-Automatic c30 (Heavy Tapes)

This tape is a series of recordings of an automated electronic ensemble - independent agents designed and built by Tom Grimley to perform his music for him. Side "A" includes studies for the full piece and the full recording of "Never Mind..." while side B contains "Studies for a New Trio." Both of these recordings are remarkably new and fascinating -- new and unheard voices interact and produce something that warrants close attention -- there are layers of discussion and projection, hums, creaks, whistles, throbs, and more. First in a planned series of projects with Heavy Tapes and Tom. new Heavy Tapes packaging for this second wave is 100% different- almost letterpressed covers - VERY expensive to make! well worth it though.

$11.00

Jazzfinger

Tour of the Moors Volume 1 c60 (Heavy Tapes)

Jazzfinger have managed to span chronology and geography with their destructive path of sonic dedication and abandon. This tape collects two live performances where the group floats recorders, voices, and electricity through the channels and pipes of a true clutch of old school heads -- a very worthwhile picture indeed. new Heavy Tapes packaging for this second wave is 100% different- almost letterpressed covers - VERY expensive to make! well worth it though.

Justice Yeldham & The Dynamic Ribbon Device

Live in Beirut 7" (Chondritic Sound)

intense shit here. Justice is a guy who regularly chews on amplified plate glass. Its safe to say that nothing like this was ever witnessed in the lebanease capital before short of the civil war which is how many audience memebers described the sound of the honourable justices performances in the still turbulant city. justice played on a sheet of broken glass he found at the beirut - damascus taxi terminal, an infamous place where many muslims where tortured and killed by the phalangists. the single's cover depicts the sticker that was on the sheet of glass played on the 02/06/04 which was found in the semi ruined building. this is ESSENTIAL. serious shit here. 500 made. sold out from source

Growing/Mark Evan Burden

Split LP (The Generation Tapes)

This recording, "Firmament", is from a 2002 session. Mark Evan Burden's solo recording is a beautiful composition of electronics and piano. This will sell very fast so hurry. Remember how fast the tapes went???

James Plotkin/Tim Wyskida

8 Improvisations CD (Archive)

$15.00

Prurient/Akitsa

Split CD (Hospital)

unholy split cd. Akitsa is true black metal and Prurient is true black noise. Starts with five minutes ambient/noise which leads into the remaining fifteen minutes. Raw BM played at half-speed (different to the ABSURD/ILDJARN influence on albums like Sang Nordique), but vocals being the most impressive--tormented, painful with demented expression. Recorded somewhere between 2000-2003. Prurient does one 30 minute ambient/noise recording from the respected project of Dominick Fernow - "Fossil" recorded live February 13, 2003. Excellent work, uses soft classical pieces in the background contrasted with high electrical pitches and low-end frequencies, mixed with some live effects and highly distorted vocals (lyrics included in booklet). Ltd quantities!

Popular Shapes

B-Ball Music Songs 7" (Hate The 80s)

As the last will and testament of Popular Shapes, 'B-Ball Music' is clearly Popular Shapes' most focused and cohesive effort. Savvy listeners will be reminded of The Fall, Le Shok, The Victims and Wire within these two tracks, assuming they weren't knocked over by the sweaty bodies splashing wine from a box. Intricate guitar interplay coasts freely like the plot of The OC while squirmy vocals free themselves from a box. The emphasis is clearly on song-writing, but the exuberance of four boys patting each other shirtless remains as bright a glare as Ford Explorer floodlights. It's rare that a band comes along where all the pieces fit seamlessly, equally throbbing and subdued. -(label ) This is OOP as well. Get it here. On killer splatter vinyl with full color heavy-stock covers and labels, thus the price.. But well worth it.

$5.50

Electroputas

Piano Blooms 12" (Social Registry)

NYC mainstay, and one of the most unbderrated around, the Putas are great because they rock not unlike Can or Neu or any other 3-lettered Kraut band. Or is it psych? Or is ti noise? Its tough to tell these days. Dazzling release. vinyl only. part of the Social Registry 12" series. Ltd to 600 copies.

$9.00

Electroputas

3 LP (Social Registry)

The brand new lp from NYC's noise-mavens Electroputas is upon us and it is a heavy affair. Hand woven to thick analog tape over six months, this record opens up the stride of this criminally under exposed outfit. The sprawling results at times brings to mind such notable luminaries as Can, Chrome, Lightning Bolt or the more musical ramblings of Ciccone Youth. With this record the trio has managed to take their unrelenting live sound into a wholly new direction. Extremely ltd vinyl release.

$11.00

Companion Trio

Our Customs CD (Mass Particles)

How can anyone think about ending it all, or losing it all, when tomorrow might bring steamed cauliflower? Another day to appreciate the genius of Gerry Thomas, or the beauty of a slow train to Baikal? More time to marvel at the wonders of the desert shrimp? Beauty, wonder, and genius...and yet, surely this is music with a hidden cruelty, like pfisteria, lurking in the waters of the Chesapeake unbeknownst to the trout farmers. Adventurous sound not unlike the voyage of the Endurance. Our Customs is are and was all of these things and more. YOU NEED THIS!

$10.00

All-Scars

Lunar Magus CD (Mass Particles/Dischord)

The third full-length album from Washington DC's All-Scars, could be construed as the soundtrack to an imaginary horror flick. Picture, or listen to, a place where sound is the only sense, where landscapes are colored by surreal intonations and punctuated by frenetic percussion. Recorded from 2001-2002, the album is a raucous culmination of compositions that span the range of heavy metal, Korean shamanism, West African drumming, techno, country, and Hasidic traditions. Members of Trance and the Arcade/Meta-matics (Chuck), and Fugazi sometimes (Jerry). A TROUBLEMAN FAVORITE!

$10.00
